| Over het wijnhuis | Château Batailley heeft een lange, trotse geschiedenis. De naam ‘batailley’ is afgeleid van de strijd (“bataille”) tussen de Fransen en de Engelsen die plaatsvond op de plek waar het château en de wijngaard nu staan - tijdens de 100-jarige oorlog in 1452. Château Batailley is geclassificeerd als een 5ème Cru Classé en is een van de betrouwbaarste wijnen in Pauillac met uitstekende prijs/kwaliteitverhouding. |

One of the best Batailleys, maybe the best, in recent years, and a strong follow-up to their splendid 2018. This is lovely, you get a sense of understated power, smooth and layered on the palate with wood spice, liquorice, menthol and gravel/wet stone notes and a core of ripe black fruit. Tannins are supportive - supple and softly gripping giving this a structured frame and drive the flavour from start to finish.
