Over het wijnhuis | Trapiche is opgericht in 1883 met een kleine wijngaard aan de voet van de Andes, genaamd El Trapiche. Begonnen als lokale onderneming is Trapiche inmiddels uitgegroeid tot wijnhuis van formaat met ruim 1.200 hectare aan wijngaarden. Daarnaast werken ze samen met meer dan 300 wijnboeren in de omgeving, om wijn van de beste terroirs uit Mendoza te kunnen aanbieden. |

Vinificatie | De twee druiven gisten afzonderlijk in kleine, betonnen vaten op een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 25-27 °C voor 25 dagen. Daarna rijpen de wijnen afzonderlijk 12 maanden in nieuw Frans eiken. Na het blenden rijpt de wijn nog 6 maanden in Frans eiken. Vervolgens rijpt de wijn in de fles voor 24 maanden in de wijnkelders. |

Rich on the palate, it has a creamy texture with a tight yet indulgent profile. Though not overly sweet, it finishes with a hint of jam. From 2008 Daniel Pi substituted Cabernet Franc for Merlot, which results in really nice balance. Daniel Pi was clearly thrilled that Michel Rolland had visited, tasted and given his blessing to vintages after his reign. The grapes are picked earlier now and the blend is aged in 300-litre French barrels for a year and then foudres for six months. Great freshness. Racy and with substantial but refined tannins.
