| Over het wijnhuis | Trapiche is opgericht in 1883 met een kleine wijngaard aan de voet van de Andes, genaamd El Trapiche. Begonnen als lokale onderneming is Trapiche inmiddels uitgegroeid tot wijnhuis van formaat met ruim 1.200 hectare aan wijngaarden. Daarnaast werken ze samen met meer dan 300 wijnboeren in de omgeving, om wijn van de beste terroirs uit Mendoza te kunnen aanbieden. |
| Wijngaard en regio | Afkomstig uit één wijngaard, Finca Orellana, in de subregio La Consulta in Uco Valley, Mendoza. De zewijngaarden liggen op 990 meter hoogte. De wijnstokken zijn aangeplant met een noord-zuid-oriëntatie en staan op een alluviale, zanderige bodem met veel rotsen. De gemiddelde leeftijd van de stokken is 62 jaar. |
| Vinificatie | De gisting vindt plaats in betonnen vaten op een gecontroleerde temperatuur, gevolgd door een schilweking van 25 dagen op 26 tot 28 graden. Daarna rijpt de wijn gedurende 12 maanden in nieuw Frans eiken, gevolgd door een flesrijping van 12 maanden. |

| Awards | "The excellent 2018 Terroir Series Malbec Finca Orellana comes from a vineyard in La Consulta in the Valle de Uco that was planted in 1950 on alluvial soils with a sandy texture and some stones covered in calcium carbonate. Irrigation comes from the Tunuyán River, and that has a salty touch that is probably noticed in the wine. This is floral with contained ripeness, very good freshness and amazing balance. It's subtle and at the same time powerful and elegant. The palate is medium to full-bodied and the tannins are very fine.
